Cleveland College researchers share findings at APHA

November 12, 2008 — Representatives of Cleveland Chiropractic College recently attended the 136th Annual American Public Health Association (APHA) meeting in San Diego, Oct. 25-29. The event is a gathering of physicians, scientists, researchers, and other healthcare professionals who share the latest advancements and research efforts relating to health and wellness.

Members of the Cleveland contingent were there to share their work in the chiropractic healthcare section of the meeting. Of the numerous papers presented, five were original scientific works, with Cleveland researchers playing a role in three of the five. The research was a collective effort by members from the Cleveland campuses in Kansas City and Los Angeles.

A presentation titled, “An Education Campaign to Increase Hand and Table Sanitizing Among Chiropractic Interns,” was completed by the multicampus CCC team. Co-authors from CCCLA were Gary Globe, D.C., PhD, provost; James W. Brantingham, DC, PhD, director of research; and Glen Jukes, DC.

Co-authors from CCCKC were Will Evans, DC, PhD, CHES., dean of graduate studies; Mark Pfefer, MS, RN, DC, director of research; and Michael Ramcharan, DC, instructor. Two other researchers worked in concert with the Cleveland team: Rod Floyd, DC, MSPH, DrPH, Palmer College of Chiropractic-Florida; and Harrison Ndetan, BSc, MSc, MPH, Parker College of Chiropractic and University of North Texas Health Science Center, Ft. Worth.
