Osterberg Chiropractic Centres wants to do something good for a youth doing good in the community.

With centers in Red Lion and Shiloh, Osterberg Chiropractic is holding a Good Deed Contest for youth. The grand prize is a new computer.

To be eligible, youth under age 18 must do good deeds and then write essays about their deed and the results, said Dr. Eric Osterberg, who runs the practice with his father, Dr. Frederick Osterberg.

The contest started in January and will end Saturday. The office staff then will vote on the top three essays.

The winner -- to be named one week after the contest ends -- will receive a computer. The office will work with the winner's

parents to determine what type of computer would be best for the child, said Eric Osterberg, 39, of Lower Windsor Township.

Second- and third-place winners will receive special gift certificates. The remaining contestants will each receive a gift certificate, so that all youth will receive something for participating, he said.

So far, 30 youths from all over York County have turned in 30 essays, Eric Osterberg said.

'Amazing': "I think it's amazing," he said. "Some of the stories make you smile and tear up.

"We're hearing about youth helping at dog shelters, feeding the homeless, helping widows and cancer patients. It's going to be really hard to pick a winner."

This is the first time Osterberg Chiropractic Centres is holding a Good Deed Contest. Another contest will begin after this month, with a deadline of Oct. 29. A winner will be announced a week later, Eric Osterberg said.
