Doc Cohe isn't much interested in breaking boards with his hands. If a stack was placed in front of him, he'd most likely step around it. But get him on the mat and all bets are off. Even at 82.

In graceful moves reminiscent of a slow-motion line dance, Cohe takes down men half his age. A slight side step, an arm lift and a wrist grab is all Cohe needs to fell an opponent - and it happens over and over in his classes.

Cohe, a retired chiropractor whose real first name is Saul, teaches jujitsu twice a week at the Kent Island Martial Arts Center. He also teaches three tai chi classes a week, two in his Oyster Cove neighborhood and another at a Towson retirement community.

"Some people are good at martial arts but aren't good teachers," said Tom Fox, who owns the Kent Island studio. "He understands how to transmit information to other people."
