The conference, “Safeguarding Health Information: Building Assurance through HIPAA Security,” will be held May 10–11 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. The conference is co-hosted by The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Office for Civil Rights.
According to the NIST website, the conference “will provide a forum to discuss the current HIT security landscape, as well as practical strategies, tips, and techniques for implementing the requirements of the HIPAA Security Rule.” This year’s keynote speaker has not yet been announced, but past keynote speakers have included Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt and CMS Office of Information Services CIO/Director Julie Boughn.
