The Knead, a new tool from OPTP, is a multiadaptable soft tissue mobilization tool designed to help provide myofascial release of tension stored in the sheets of fibrous tissue surrounding and supporting the muscles, called the fascia.
This tension is oftentimes the result of joint dysfunction and can be caused by poor posture, trauma, inactivity, spinal issues, congenital problems, or normal wear-and-tear. Left untreated, joint dysfunction inhibits the muscle’s ability to move freely, oftentimes resulting in a cycle of muscle spasms, pain, diminished blood flow and fatigue — ultimately resulting in myofascial tension.
Using The Knead will help restore normal joint function by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing lymphatic drainage, breaking up fascial adhesions and stimulating the stretch reflex of the muscles and fascia. The Knead can be used to treat post-op rehabilitation, post injury rehabilitation, injury prevention, muscle tightness and shortening, and post-exercise soreness.
