Why Chiropractic Care for Children?
Increasing number of parents are now using chiropractic care as part of their children's health regimen.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now indicate that a minimum of three percent of all children in the United States now have
regular chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care is for all ages from the very young to the senior citizens in the world. Chiropractic care for children is there for preventive wellness care and maintain the body's structure. Health of the spine impacts the total nervous system which controls and synchronizes all the systems contained in the body such as respiratory and immune.
The body of a child does not become injured the same way as an adult nor or they worked in the same manner. As the child grows their bodies are put under immense strain just by daily activities like crawling and jumping rope. Daily activities such as those can cause injury to the spine and nervous system a little bit at a time. Over a length of time these injuries have accumulated and can lead to bones and joints in the spine becoming misaligned. If the misalignment is not corrected it can end up leading to spinal degeneration, osteoarthritis and more.
Chiropractic care is not mean to replace pediatrician. In all actuality, chiropractors and pediatricians do work well together to ensure a child's overall health.
Studies have been done proving that chiropractic care not only is effective for children in areas of back and neck pain but also in other various conditions such as asthma which more and more parents now seek chiropractic care to manage their child's asthma symptoms. They also have been noted to aide in ear infections, colic, bed wetting, scoliosis, sports injuries and more.
Chiropractic care for learning disorders and dyslexia
A study which was published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research has shown that chiropractic care carried a broad range of benefits for children with learning disorders and dyslexia.
After a review of eight studies consisting of over 155 children, there was substantial proof that chiropractic treatments can aide in numerous cognitive disabilities.
Learning disabilities and dyslexia are commonly known as a neurodevelopmental disorder. Children that endure these problems have a parts of their brain which do not function normally or even delay development. Among those areas is a part called the cerebellum which is an important part in learning. It aides the brain to coordinate and combine numerous sensory information and heightens the speed of processing the information.
Many elements can affect the brain from developing correctly such as traumatic birth and stress during pregnancy. The ongoing stimulation of the brain comes from the spine and the position of muscles constantly change to the force of gravity. If a misalignment in the spine occurs called vertebral subluxation, the brain does not receive proper stimulation which produces problems in other areas of the body.
Chiropractic adjustments improve the functioning of the spine and vigorously stimulate the nerve pathways of the cerebellum and other brain areas. In children it aides the brain to function properly for learning.
