Chiropractor Touts Work On NewbornsPublished: 2010-09-01 05:24:41Author: KETV.com | May 20, 2010 OMAHA, Neb. -- An Omaha doctor said a spinal adjustment could help babies sleep sounder, eat better and live healthier lives.
Dr. Joel Marley is a family chiropractor and has treated babies who were just a few hours old.
He recently did a spinal adjustment on a 5-month-old girl named Emma.
“When I’m checking her spine, every one of these switches and exits goes
to organs, tissues and glands. When this nervous system is working
properly, she’s going to work properly,” he said.
Marley said chiropractic for children is safe.
“I’m using about as much pressure as it would be to test the ripeness of a tomato,” he said.
He said it can have a huge effect on a child’s heath.
“Parents report back to me all the time (about) less sleep disturbances
like colic, problems latching or maybe feeding, appetite problems or
digestion,” Marley said.
Parent Kendra Davila said it helped her 20-month-old daughter.
“If she gets a cold, she comes in, gets checked, gets her adjustment and
within three or four days, she’s perfectly fine,” Davila said.
She said her daughter, Georgia, first met Marley just 28 hours after she was born.
“Womb to tomb,” Marley said. “We see patients just a few days old, just a
few hours old and get their nervous systems working optimally so they
can experience health over a lifetime.”
He said he is convinced the chiropractic method on newborn babies is the
key to preventing problems, not just treating them. He compared it to
staking a sapling tree so it has the support and help it needs to grow.
