Bay Ridge Chiropractor, Dr Jason Peloquin Is Now Specializing In Kinesiotaping And Gua Sha Therapy For Soft Tissue InjuriesPublished: 2010-08-27 19:22:53Author: 1888PressRelease | May 23, 2010Entrepreneur, Professional Speaker, Chiropractor
and Clinical Nutritionist Dr. Peloquin's office Hands of Gold
Chiropractic has been helping suffering people in Bay Ridge Brooklyn
since 2004. He has now added two new physical modalities to help aid
and assist in the treatment of soft tissue injuries.
For chronic soft tissue pain and dysfunction, nothing compares to the dual treatment of Gua Sha with kinesiotaping.
For those new to Gua Sha, the technique involves applying a smooth edged
tool to the skin. "Gua" means "to scrape" and "Sha" literally
translates as "sand". In this case, "sand" refers to an abnormal texture
that one is able to palpate as the edge of the tool encounters affected
soft tissue. It is a Chinese technique over 1,000 years old first
practiced with a stone or jade Gua Sha is applied to chronic soft tissue
dysfunctional/painful areas with the emphasis on restoring normal
circulatory function, improving flexibility, range of motion, and
stength. A muscle spasm or trigger point results in prolonged
contraction of muscle fibers. When this happens, capillaries are
squeezed or blocked causing ischemia and the build up of lactic acid.
This toxin interferes with normal muscle function. Gua Sha can help
anyone with a soft tissue injury or chronic muscle tightness. GRASTON
TECHNIQUE IS GUA SHA!
The Kinesio Taping® Method involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support
or to prevent over-contraction. The first technique gives the
practitioner the opportunity to actually give support while maintaining
full range of motion. This enables the individual to participate in
their normal physical activity with functional assistance. The second
technique, which is most commonly used in the acute stage of
rehabilitation, helps prevent overuse or over-contraction and helps
provide facilitation of lymph flow for an entire 24 hour period.
Correctional techniques include mechanical, lymphatic, ligament/tendon,
fascia, space and functional. Kinesio Tex® Tape can be used in
conjunction with other therapies, including cryotherapy, hydrotherapy,
massage therapy, and electrical stimulation.
Kinesio Taping® affects the activation of the neurological system, the
body's information processor and the circulatory system. Muscles are not
only attributed to the movements of the body, but they also control the
circulation of venous and lymph flows, body temperature, etc.
Therefore, the failure of the muscles to function properly induces
various kinds of symptoms. Consequently, more attention was given to the
importance of muscle function, that the idea of treating the muscles in
order to activate the body's own healing process came about. Using an
elastic tape, such as Kinesio Tex® Tape, it was discovered that muscles
and other tissues could be helped by outside assistance. Employment of
Kinesio Taping® creates a completely new and innovative approach to
treating nerves, muscles and organs.
Dr. Peloquin has had tremendous success with this combination therapy
after receiving practical training at the beginning the year. He has
found it most effective after massage therapy and chiropractic
manipulation therapy.
