“I had been seeing a chiropractor since I was little. When I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to treat myself, I realized that I had to meet someone who could.”
But it is more than regular adjustments that she shares with her husband, Shawn Andrews, whom she met while at Northwestern Chiropractic College in Bloomington. The two are also running a business together — Andrews Family Chiropractic — and raising a family (their daughter, Evelyn, is 2 years old) together. And although adjusting each other helps them alleviate the stress that comes with all of that, they both admit there isn’t always enough time for that at the office.
“Luckily, our instruments are our hands,” Tawnda says. “So even if we’re at home, we can help each other out a little bit.”
Minnesota Valley Business Journal: When you met and fell in love in chiropractic school, did you know that you would someday run a practice together?
Tawnda Andrews: Most chiropractors do own their own practices, and we always knew that we didn’t want to try to run two different practices. So yes, it was assumed that we be in business together.
MVBJ: When you talked about being in business together, did you also talk about how your own family would fit into the picture?
