ACOM Health Announces Patient Education Software; Designed to Encourage Chiropractic Treatment Plan Compliance

ATLANTA, Georgia, October 06, 2009 -- ACOM Health today announces new Patient Education software module for its Chiropractic Software suite that is designed to keep patients returning for their full series of office visits and to motivate them to faithfully perform their prescribed home exercise regimens between visits, it was announced today by ACOM Health Senior Vice President and General Manager Mark Firmin.
"Doctors become frustrated when, part-way through a well-conceived treatment plan, patients become disenchanted with their progress and discontinue the recovery program," Firmin said. The Patient Education software module, an integrated part of the ACOM Health Documentation software, allows doctors to engage their patients with In-Clinic 3D imagery and detailed Home Exercise videos:
- During examination, doctors show patients exactly what’s happening with their bodies through precise 3D images that can be expanded, zoomed, marked on and even supplement with their own text while they are discussing the patient’s symptoms and problems.
- Doctors can assign the patient appropriate exercises, chosen from over 300 online videos which provide explanatory, step-by-step instructions that patients can watch and do at home: doctors can see record of their patients’ compliance.
"Uniquely, ACOM has incorporated these instructional videos in its Documentation module, allowing them to be inserted directly into the patient record. This further supports the medical necessity of the treatment plan as well as the doctor’s management of the case." Firmin said.
"It is important that patients understand what chiropractic can accomplish, and properly educating them about their symptoms, prognoses and responsibilities within the treatment plan can encourage them to maintain their office visit schedules and perform their exercise regimens at home."
