LEBANON — The walls of the Center for Natural Health & Rehabilitation display photos of top athletes like baseball's Curt Schilling and Steve Finley, football stars Joe Montana, Howie Long and Jerry Rice and others, thanking owner Dr. Jody Serra for making them feel better.

But it takes a steady stream of local customers to stay in business for nearly three decades.

"What makes our practice unique is that we combine 27 years of experience with the newest, state-of-the-art technology to offer our patients a successful, natural solution to their conditions," Serra said.

Chiropractic care takes a natural approach to correcting the causes of physical problems rather than treating the symptoms, Serra said.

"Stress in the spine affects the nervous system, and the nervous system controls every other system in the body," he said.

One of Serra's newest tools is a digital infrared system that maps the spine, showing red-hot spots where stress exists. As stress and pain are relieved, the colors on the map change from red to green.

Serra said the system is non-invasive and gentle, so families with young children who can't verbalize their problems can still be treated safely.

The latest technological breakthrough is the SpineMed decompression table — the only one of its kind in the state.

Decompression therapy gently moves the disks of the spine back and forth, opening them up and drawing in moisture and nutrients that help the healing process, Serra said. The SpineMed table's microprocessors get feedback from the body 40 times per second and adjust the table so the patient doesn't feel the traction.
